Hibiscus In Paradise
For many a beautiful flower is simply a rose, but here in my Paradise Isle of St Lucia beauty comes in so many forms and for me there’s no flower quite as beautiful, nor as delicate as our very own hibiscus. The petals are so delicate that it takes nothing more than a really strong gust of wind to bend and bruise them, leaving behind some telltale blue scars in its wake.
The hibiscus is one of the most bountiful flowers you’ll find in Saint Lucia from the more common five petalled variety to the smaller type with petals as beautifully convoluted as a flamenco dancer’s outfit. Hibiscuses come in a variety of colours from crimson red to pale pink, with peach and yellow in between.
Interestingly enough this flower is family to the okra which is a vegetable used in that national dish of Barbados called flying fish and cuckoo. And speaking of Barbados – if you have vacationed there and are looking for another really fine Caribbean island getaway might I suggest St Lucia and promise you that not only will you not be disappointed, but also that you’re likely to fall in love with us as we are an island with so much to offer in terms of unique island experiences and so much more…
But don’t just take my word for it as I’d like you to come discover this for yourself…
