Songwriters Paradise at Cotton Bay Village

Just days before the culmination of the Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival, Cotton Bay Vilage was transformed into a songwriters’ paradise yet again as Broadcast Music Inc (BMI). and C2W Music hosted their fourth songwriters’ camp. These producers/songwriters were not to go unnoticed while here at Cotton Bay Village, as they kept our timelines buzzing with tweets and instagram posts about their experience with us.

It was just a matter of time before I approached Ivan Berry, Chief Executive Officer of C2W (Caribbean 2 World) Music. I needed to know two things; what is the project this time and why Cotton Bay Village again. This being their fourth visit with us, it was interesting to find out that this particular trip was devoted to producing a fusion of Soca and Electronic Dance Music. Under the musical direction of producers such Andrew Mackay, Raz and Mark Cyrus, 8 songwriters from around the world dug their heels in, building beats, writing and recording demos in makeshift studios.Who knew that so much was happening beyond the doors of our Terracotta Townhouses? They were in a world of their own.

After only a week and 16 hit songs later, Mr. Berry had no reservations in telling us why they keep coming back. “Cotton Bay Village affords them living luxury, on a beach with welcoming staff and convenient seclusion”, said Mr. Berry. And for that we are glad! Look out for this incredible fusion of Soca and Electronic Dance Music all created right here at Cotton Bay Village in saint Lucia. and will end up being sung by internationally recognized artists around the world. It’s never goodbye for us especially with BMI/C2W Music but later until the next songwriters’ camp.
